BEWARE OF IDENTITY THIEVES

INCREASING THREAT OF CALLS TARGETING SENIORS

These callers are claiming they represent Medicare, Social Security or any other insurance company.

The caller may  state that the SSA computers are down, that your file needs to be updated, or refer to enrollment in a Medicare drug program.

The SCAM ARTIST will ask you to verify or provide your personal banking information or Social Security number.

THE INTENT OF THIS CALL IS TO STEAL YOUR IDENTITY OR MONEY FROM YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.

DO NOT EVER provide your Social Security number or other personal information over the phone UNLESS YOU INITIATED THE CONTACT.

It is possible that an actual SSA employee may constitute a follow up on the previous application for Social Security or Medicare part D benefits or other business YOU INITIATED WITH THEM.

THEY WILL NOT CALL LATE NIGHT OR WEEKENDS

To verify the legitimacy of the caller who claims to be an SSA employee call your local Social Security office      or  toll-free customer service
